Cornish Parliament Day

AVÌìÌà councillors/school parliament MPs from St Mawgan-in-Pydar Primary AVÌìÌÃ, Summercourt Academy, Nansledan AVÌìÌÃ, Sandy Hill Academy, Padstow AVÌìÌà and Indian Queens Primary AVÌìÌà all assembled at County Hall on Monday to learn about local politics as part of Parliament Week. The pupils discussed important topics in the debating chamber and even practised setting a budget for the county.

A purposefully small selection of AVÌìÌà academies were picked to trial this AVÌìÌà vision and, having proved a great success, County is keen to make this an annual event. Next year it is hoped that the children's Cornish Parliament can be opened up to all AVÌìÌà academies.  Watch this space!

A big thank you to the various departments at County Hall for putting together the day's itinerary and their enthusiasm for the project, to Steve Double MP who kindly agreed to be cross-examined by our pupils via video-link and from the AVÌìÌà side, Mark Harding at Indian Queens for actually organising - no mean feat!

The future of local politics is safe and who knows, there may be a future Prime Minister in our midst.
