About Us

The AVÌìÌà has its roots in St Austell, Cornwall.  In 2010 Sandy Hill Community Primary AVÌìÌà established itself as a single academy trust.  Three years later, Padstow AVÌìÌà and Treverbyn CP AVÌìÌà joined Sandy Hill to form a multi-academy trust, initially known as The Cornwall Academy Trust (TCAT) and renamed in April 2014 the AVÌìÌÃ.

As of 2024, the AVÌìÌà family comprises 37 primary academies (including three church schools) and 22 nurseries across Cornwall; from Carbis Bay in the west to Bude up in the northeast, from Grade Ruan towards the tip of The Lizard, to Tintagel on the rugged north coast.  The trust also owns an outdoor education facility, Carnyorth Education Centre in Pendeen.

The largest schools are founder member Sandy Hill Academy in St Austell, Penryn Primary Academy near Falmouth, and Indian Queens Primary AVÌìÌà in mid-Cornwall.  The smallest are Coverack Primary AVÌìÌà on The Lizard Peninsula, St Mawes Primary AVÌìÌà on The Roseland Peninsula and Warbstow Primary Academy, near Launceston.   Whatever its size and location, each academy proudly retains its own identity and sense of place in the local community but as a member of the AVÌìÌà family, better provision, richer resources, higher standards, and exceptional learning experiences are ensured for all.

The trust is an inclusive trust. Each AVÌìÌà academy believes in providing every child with the opportunity to experience an outstanding education, both academically and emotionally and socially. By rigorously identifying the barriers to learning, providing an inspiring and relevant curriculum that considers the whole child and providing the necessary support for children to achieve and develop, all children will reach their true potential.

By nurturing intellectual curiosity, self-reliance, tenacity of purpose, and commitment to others, AVÌìÌà pupils will be fully equipped to make a difference in a complex and changing world.
